US Tax News - New filing date for Report of Foreign Bank Accounts (“FBAR”)

Posted 20th February 2017

If you are a US citizen or green card holder living in the UK with total non-US bank accounts, investments and trusts exceeding $10,000, you should be aware that there is a new FBAR filing date.

The due date of the FinCEN Report 114 which is more commonly referred to as FBAR (Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts) was changed from June 30th to June 15th following the end of the relevant calendar year for persons living outside the US for 2016 onwards. Further extension to 15th October is also possible to align with US Federal Tax Return filing dates.

Tax Director, Kevin Hancock, is an Enrolled Agent, authorised to represent taxpayers before the US Internal Revenue Service. Kevin can assist with the completion and filing of “FBAR” declarations for US citizens and residents. Contact Kevin for more information khancock@humph.co.uk
