In House Seminar - Private Client Update

Posted 9th March 2017

Sue Pocklington, partner and head of the Trust and Estate Support Services team, gave an in house seminar today to the partners and managers entitled ‘Private Client Update’. The aim of the talk was to update staff on communication with HMRC when a client is deceased, including pre-death and post-death income tax and capital gains tax reporting, the relevance of market values at the date of death and reporting estate income on beneficiaries’ tax returns.

Sue also gave a brief update on topical points for Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney and the importance of these for our clients, as well as the impact of the new residential nil-rate band on inheritance tax.

Sue commented “I felt that it was important to keep my colleagues informed on what we do within the Trust and Estate Support Services team as well as providing them with topical updates on HMRC procedures and tax reporting.”

The talk was part of our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme.  All members of our staff receive continuous training and development as CPD promotes staff development and demonstrates professional credibility to our clients.
